The micro SD card board allows a large amount of data storage to be added to the system. The board provides a means of reading and writing data to the SD card as well as providing level shifting to allow 5V and 3V3 systems to be compatible. The board also provides a means of detecting if the card is present via a switch built into the card socket. The micro SD card is inserted by pushing it into the socket with the SD contacts pointing down. The SD card is removed from the socket by first pushing it inwards to unlock it from the socket before pulling it back out.
