This course builds on the outcomes of EL131 and gives participants the knowledge to safely work with more complex electrical circuits. With more advanced theory and a larger focus on AC Electrical topics, This course will prepare participants to work with a wide variety of electrical circuits and systems.

This 2-day course covers the following topics:

  • Safety in electric circuits
  • Electric field and magnetism
  • Coils
  • Capacitors
  • Calculating and interpreting values
  • Introdcution to three-phase current theory
  • Work and power


At the conclusion of this course, the participant is able to:

  • Explain and apply the safety procedures for working in electrical circuits
  • Name the electrical sensors and actuators, and relate them to real-life applications
  • Build and commission circuits of intermediate complexity
  • Diagnose the most common faults in electrical circuits
  • Calculate the cost of using electricity
