Machine Safety and Compliance:
"Understanding the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and Introduction to the New Standard EN ISO 13849-1 Safety of Machinery – Safety Related Parts of Control Systems"

Do you use or build machines in the European Union? Or do you export machines to the EU? If this is
the case, your machines have to comply with the new machine directive.

On December 29, 2009, the new Machine Directive 2006/42/EC came into effect.

The standard DIN EN 954-1 ”Safety-related parts of control systems — General principles for design” has been superseded with the new standard EN ISO 13549-1. DIN EN 954-1 is approaching the final months of the transition period to EN ISO 13849.

After December 2011 EN ISO 13 849 will be the sole standard to be applied for safety related parts of control systems which demands the definition of a performance level and diagnostic coverage level.

Are you fully prepared for this transition?
