Industry 4.0 at Festo

Industry 4.0 - 3 Pillars

What does Industry 4.0 mean for Festo? Festo takes a wide-perspective, holistic view of the changes in the production world, and also takes into account non-technological aspects, such as the interaction between humans and machinery or the topic of training and qualification. Together with partners from science and industry, Festo is researching new solutions and technologies for the production of the future.

From industry, for industry
Thanks to the industrial roots of Festo Didactic in automation technology, we can, as your partner, address two needs at once: on the one hand, we work very closely together with industry and know its needs, which we incorporate directly into our training material. On the other hand, we are part of many Industry 4.0 committees such as SmartFactory-KL and the Plattform Industrie 4.0. We are thus able to play an active part in shaping this project and integrating the latest trends in our learning systems.

Participation in the steering committee Plattform Industrie 4.0
Festo is represented in both the steering committee and in various working groups of the Industry 4.0 platform across Germany, which takes forward the Industry 4.0 project of the future embedded in the Federal Government’s high-tech strategy. Festo, together with other partners from science and industry, actively works on the development of technologies, standards, business and organisation models relating to Industry 4.0 as well as their practical implementation.

Plattform Industrie 4.0

Participation in the initiative SmartFactory-KL
Festo joined the vendor-neutral Smart Factory KL initiative in 2013. The objective of the demonstration and research platform in Kaiserslautern is to transfer new technology and concepts to the factory automation environment.

Being a member of Smart Factory KL enables Festo to cooperate closely and be involved with other industrial companies and the sciences, while also sustaining a high practical value: it is possible to develop, test and network, under real conditions, the interaction of intelligent components from different manufacturers.
